Was wondering if there was a "recommended settings" guide to all these options in here. This is my first foray into server mobos and man, there are a ton more options that a desktop mobo.

Do you guys just leave this stuff at stock? The only thing I made sure of was that it was set as AHCI.

Default unless you have a very good reason to change them or they're a user preference option (boot order, IPMI network settings, power mode after AC failure, ...) or [you know exactly what you're doing and what the option does and have a specific need/desire for the changed option0].

I'm currently building my system on X11SSM-F and first steps was to go through the BIOS to tune it. Got to say I've got a feeling of complete dissatisfaction. Lots and lots of complex settings that would take too much time to work out. No I don't feel like tuning the PCI-E slot settings. Nope I don't think I'll bother reading Intel whitepapers about CPU P and C states so no tuning there, ect ect. In the end all I did was disable PXE boot, disable the EFI network stack, disable both the COM ports as I figure I'll never use them in a home setting where I have console access whenever I want.

Did try for an hour or so to set everything to EFI just for the sake of everything running the new way but found out that would take a reasonable amount more work reading up about how to get the FreeNAS ISO to boot in this mode. So back to defaults and the feeling of how little control I have over my system so far :p
