you should never need the command line to configure/add your drives

You should be able to power down the box, add the 2 HD, then restart. After the GUI loads, you should be able to go the the volume manager to create the new volume from the added drives then set up mounts and shares for it. Hope this helps.

Seems simple enough, thanks!

Just a note of caution, you're running ZFS with 1/4 of the minimum recommended amount of RAM.

I'd normally suggest using UFS on systems with 2Gb RAM.

From what I've been reading here, not only is it very risky, but REALLY SLOW as well:rolleyes:.
I've already begun researching server hardware.
I built this first one to play with FreeNas and I'm not depending
on this build for any data security.
I've been reading the post on ECC vs. non-ECC and I'm buyin' a server board asap.
Just threw this together to get a feel for FreeNas and don't have anything on it that's not backed up elsewhere.
So far the only money I've got in it is the twin 3TB hard disks, everything else was just laying about.
I'm havin' a blast and now regret waiting. Thanks to everyone who has helped pioneer all of this,
I imagine they have worked their tails off. This website has been a wealth of information, thanks to you folks as well.

Take a look at the "So you want some hardware suggestions" thread.

I'm glad to hear that you're putting FreeNAS through it's paces on a test machine with plans of moving to a better platform.
