Hello.

I'm building my first NAS Server and don't really know my way around them yet so I have a few questions. With FreeNAS is there a minimum requirement for the number of drives required to start the build? Right now I have one WD RED 2TB drive. Do I need 2 or three to start?

This brings me to my next question, when I do add drives, can I just slide them in an add them to an array, and when I do will I loose the data on the one existing drive already in place? Or do they need to be added to their own array every time I add a new drive or two? I wont be picking up another drive for a few months (I plan on adding 2 more 2TB drives some time in April or May).

Regards,

Also see Cyberjock's presentation on using ZFS, in the stick at the top of this Noobs forum.
