***Moved to Help & Support: Installation***
This is similar to another thread, but I didn't want to hijack it....
I've been running FreeNAS (Ver 0.6??) on an old Gateway for some time and it's worked flawlessly.
I started off trying V8 when I realized it was more than my hardware could handle, so I backed off to V 0.7.2.6694 which should be fine.... however when I attempt to install from a CD, I get:
*********
acd0:Failure - READ_BIG Illegal Request asc=0x64 ascq=0x00
Manual Root Filesystem specification:
<fstype>:<device> mount <device> using filesystem <fstype>
eg. ufs:da0s1a
? List valid disk boot devices
<empty line> Abort manual input
mountroot>
**********
After a ? input, I tried all the drives listed to no avail such ufs:ad4s1
A blank return simply reboots the system.
The CD is ok as it wil boot fine on another PC. I looked for hardware changes from .6 to
.7 but couldn't locate the docs.
Has 0.7 outgrown a PIII with only 128MB?
Thanks
~Joe
