Guten Tag,

I'm trying to understand the basics of SMB sharing from FreeNAS to MacOS. FreeNAS is 11.2-U6 and MacOS is 10.14.6 (Mojave).
On a FreeNAS computer -- let's call it NAS-Server -- I've configured an SMB share that will eventually house media to be accessed by Plex (and possibly Kodi). On...
Hello everyone,
I'm new to FreeNAS and I need some help with the configuration.
I need to set permissions for each folder that is in the shared pool (e.g. user 1 can access folder 1 and 2, user 2 can access only folder 1).
Is there a way to do that?
Thanks!

Good evening,
I have a mix of OS types (Windows, Apple, Linux) and I'm trying to understand how I should structure the permissions correctly for devices to use the SMB shares. I setup my users on my NAS and gave them the appropriate rights and setup SMB shares using Unix permissions. I am...
before the latest update or two, FreeNAS's SMB used to open when when I click on the FreeNAS server from the Location section in Finder. I can't tell if the update of FreeNAS to FreeNAS-11.2-U3 made something different. I'm sorry.
In the past, I just open Finder, locate the FreeNAS server...

I understand that Windows 10 >1703(?) no longer supports SMBv1 by default and as such Windows Computer Browsing is gone.

Hi,
I was trying to join my FreeNAS (11.1u4) to the domain and was able to do everything fine. I could auth with domain credentials to my SMB share and restart the server and everything would come back up. However, I noticed when it would come back up I would get this error during boot...

if you create a guest share as well a share that requires authentication, AFP will only map users who login as guest to the guest share. This means that if a user logs...
