Trunenas server abruptly looses power and comes back on.

My system specs are;

• MSI Pro z690-A Wifi
• Intel i7 12700kf
• XPG Spectric D35g 2x16gb
• 5x WD Blue 1TB in raidz2 and Crucual MX500 as boot drive
• Onboard Intel 2.5Gbe Network Drive
• EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 6501 8+ gold power supply

You can tell that almost none of these are server grade parts, but in the mean time that is what i have. I also understand the KF and z690 issue with the onboard graphics and have compensated for that with an old Zotac 1070 GPU so the system boots fine.

These parts MOBO, CPU and RAM were the only ones i have just recently replaced from an old 5820k setup with a faulty board and ram stick.

This is where i am tearing my hair out, the server just abruptly looses power and comes back on. It had been stable for a while almost running for a day and now it keeps going off. This morning as at 10:30am, it had gone off twice. I have even swapped out the place the power connects.

I need help, else i would have just bought new parts for nothing.

First off, this almost certainly a hardware issue. Have you tried changing the power cord and the outlet to which the server is connected? After that, check (disconnect and reconnect) the connection from the power supply to the motherboard.

I'd focus on the PSU. While a bad wall connection is possible (and would be visible on the plug via blackening of contacts), such failures should be rare for servers as the power outlets and the plugs used in them are rarely inserted / withdrawn. Power outlets that experience a lot of use (airports, planes, etc.) are much more likely to develop high resistance faults, as are devices that draw a lot of power (microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer, etc. if plugged into wall power)

If this is a hardware issue, I'm willing to bet a ham sandwich that your PSU is dead or dying. I'd keep a spare PSU on hand just for these kinds of situations. Good luck!

First, thanks for the quick reply, I have and even swapped places with the specific outlet. And i had just reconnect the Power Supply to the motherboard. Its a fresh replacement. What i dont get is, it does this a lot when on for about a day or more hours after that. I can be on bios for however long and it will not go off, but will shutdown when booting into truenas.

For the temps i get cooling is completely fine. 38 to 46

Its a fresh replacement. What i dont get is, it does this a lot when on for about a day or more hours after that. I can be on bios for however long and it will not go off, but will shutdown when booting into truenas.

So you have tested two separate PSUs on this motherboard and both show the same issue?
