Just for people like me that are new and may wish to note the progress they've made, be it hardware or software. Only a thought

Don't get me started, I can talk for days. You might as well include money and time spent to get to the final result as that would show new folks how much some of us have spent just getting to a good place. I for one don't want to think about it, nor tell my wife.

I'm sure you could! Yes indeed, the time and cost is...unexpected to say the least, and not to be disclosed to the relevant parties! But it's well worth it...jeez, I'm only starting to get system I'm prepared to lean on, around 6 months after I first started.
We can percolate on this idea, but another way to do it would be to create a blog about it, and such a thing can certainly be mentioned in the 'off topic' area and signature, just as my own is (though it is for FreeBSD).
Too true. In some ways it would be nice if it were on here, just so those that have aided and assisted can see the fruits of their voluntary labour.
My trick: Make sure your wife uses the servers just as much or even more than you do :P
That is definitely my aim, Plex was very useful for that...though I'll never tell her how much it's all costing! I have to say I would not have gone down this path, if it weren't for all FreeNAS related costs being TAX deductible (self-employed).
