Hello everyone thank you so much for all the info you all have provided.
I have poured over a lot if chat rooms and fourms and after awhile it all starts to look like a foreign language to me.
My question is. I have owncloud installed and it is working great at home. Is there a way to upload my pictures away from my home network? So when I take a picture it uploads straight to my owncloud @ home. Like a guide for dummies?

You literally just put a port forward on your router and have the interface available on your external network.

Yeah. It would be best to look into a dynamic DNS provider, I don't know who is in the game anymore, but dyndns and no-ip were the big guys in town when I needed that service. These days, I have several domains and use Google domains as my Registrar, and subsequently their tools for updating my dynamic IP.

Basically from external, you would point your own cloud app to the public IP or domain name for your network and as long as you have the IP forwarded correctly, it will just work.

I don't know anything about using the dynamic DNS options in FreeNAS. My dynamic DNS is handled at my router

I am unsure what the means. Do u mean in .y router or the freenas box?
He just means you can use another port besides 80, which is the standard port for HTTP traffic. You would have to configure port forwarding or NAT on your router to direct traffic from the external port to whatever port you're using on the Owncloud instance on your FreeNAS system (which I guess is port 80 on the jail's IP?).

Actually, if you can figure out how to forward ports to your owncloud server, the owncloud mobile phone sync clients have picture uploading built in. Make sure you have ssl turned on in owncloud and forward any large port to your server's internal ip from that external port to 443.
