Yes, the 9300 hba. I think I posted the exact steps and file names around here, but I don't have the time to search right now.

Do I want to install the IT or IR version?

Would anyone familiar with supermicro boards be willing to dumb these install instructions down for me? Do I set my bootable drive ahead of the freenas boot drive and then install? Where do I get this 9 digit character from?

Thanks!

Flashing IR mode in UEFI mode

1) Please copy all files from UEFI folder to bootable USB disk

2) Run SMC3008R.nsh and following the instruction to enter the last 9 digits/character of the SAS address.

3) If you are having problem to enter the SAS address, please use the command below to set the controller SAS address.

sas3flash.efi -o –sasadd “Controller SAS address”

For example: sas3flash.efi -o –sasadd 50030480070a8b00

4) Reboot the system

If you are asking about IT vs IR, you should really do a little more reading.

You want IT though. And I've posted much simpler directions in a couple other posts.

I couldn't find the directions you say you've posted, sorry if I'm being a dumb best I just have too much data on here already to be willing to risk my normal tinkering.

Ah sweet I found a nice tutorial. But I definitely currently have the IR firmware installed. So if I update to the IT firmware will that screw with my pool or cause me to lose data?

No. IT is like IR, but with the RAID features stripped out. As long as you didn't configure the disks for HW RAID, it'll be fine.

SO I typed in SMC3008T.nsh on that page and ended up with this after 2 minutes.

Now I'm worried I screwed this up...

Hmm, no need to worry yet. Just tell it to flash the firmware image you have on the drive.

Problem solved. Realized I hadn't actually mounted the flash drive first.
