What does this message mean, and does it require any action?
Thanks

Exactly what it reads.. you need to update the firmware on your LSI card that uses the mpr driver to firmware version 9. Easy - Peazy!

From http://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas_alert.html:

An alert will also be generated when the Avago HBA firmware version does not match the driver version. To resolve this alert, download the IT (integrated target) firmware, not the IR (integrated RAID) firmware, from the Avago website. Then, specify the name of the firmware image and bios as well as the controller to flash:

sas2flash -f firmwareimagename -b biosname -c controllernumber

When finished, reboot the system. The new firmware version should appear in the system messages and the alert will be cleared.

You want Supermicro's firmware. If they don't have P9 available, contact their support and ask for it.

OK guys really sorry I feel really dumb here but I have no clue how to get this driver. On the Supermicro download page I first have to pick an OS for the driver selection. (Microsoft, Redhat, SuSe). So first I don't know which I need. Do I use the redhat, or SuSe option? I went through the SuSe option and then chose SLES and then found the SAS driver. This is all the info on it

You don't want the driver. You want the firmware.

OK I contacted Supermicor they only have the PH8 version and told me to go to the Avago site for the firmware.

Ya sorry I had a brain fart there. but I'm back to where I was before now. I don't know which option I need on the avago site.

There are no versions. You just want the firmware (and optionally either the BIOS or UEFI extension ROMs). Any packages they might have include the flashing tool. If you prefer, you can use the UEFI one with an EFI shell.

That's funny, SM support told me NOT to use the Avago firmware.
I keep checking this site for P9: ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/SAS/LSI/3008/Firmware/

Lots of folks on the X10SL7 have used the Avago P20 firmware in order to get the "fixed" 20.00.04.00 release without issue ... I imagine the SAS3 stuff is similarly compatible but I'd hate to have OP toast his board trying.
