Folks can anyone advise me if the X11SSM-F supports ATA passwords via the bios? I've looked through the manual but not really getting a clue if it's there or not. There are some secure boot mode and TPM settings but no explanation on what they do.

Reason for the question is I'm thinking to have two SSD's that have native hardware encryption in a mirror and therefore the drives secure the data in case of theft but doesn't use OS level encryption. Would just need to enter the passphrase in the bois at boot time.

Were you able to find the answer to this?
No answers here in the forum and couldn't get any real idea from the MB manual. I have this model MB currently in shipping and purchased a SSD with onboard encryption capability so I'll find out over the next week or so as I assemble the system.

Well the answer to this is that it seems this simple function doesn't exist in the Bios provided with the X11 and I assume probably many other MB bios from Supermicro. I tried everything I can think of including jumpering to manufacturer mode just in case some more bios functions were exposed in that mode but no joy.

The bios has secure boot functions but from what I read that relates to ensuring all code at boot time is signed and unmodified but not related to HDD passwords in any way. Seems I would probably need to purchase an add on TPM module from Supermicro but I downloaded the 50 page manual for that and my eyes just glazed over as that's too much effort to work out for something that would be nice for me but not absolutely necessary. Oh well, moving on to next topic.
