Would the i3 -3225 do alright?

I just finished reading the hardware recommendations page. There it said the i3 can be a medium level CPU to go with.
I'm a NAS noob, I have an extra i3-3225 and from what I understand paired with the X9SCM-F should work. Yes? No? Way off?

Why are you looking at old hardware? Haswell stuff is essentially the same price, but slightly speedier and a bit less thirsty for power.

Oh, sorry, missed the part where you have a spare CPU lying around.

It should be alright for most tasks. Heavy transcoding is a bit too much for it, but everything else is ok.

An i3-3225 should be fine for most FreeNAS tasks and light transcoding (1 or 2 streams.) If you can find an x9-scm board at a good price, it would make a great FreeNAS system. An x9-scl board would also work well.
