Will FreeNAS migrate to NextBSD?

With the recent news about NextBSD, and the fact that it's a project of iXsystems and Jordan Hubbard, I am curious if the long-term plans are to eventually migrate FreeNAS to NextBSD?

I'm still learning about the implications, but one article I found worth reading is this:

If FreeNAS migrates to a different OS, that is up to iXsystems to figure out. I'm certain FreeNAS in general will still be a good NAS solution. The next version of FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD 10 so even if the program were to make this change, it's still years down the road. To be honest, so long as the program runs properly, I could care less what OS it's based on. I personally had a steep learning curve with FreeBSD being a DOS/windoze person, if there is another learning curve, I'll get over that hump too.

I've also never moved a pool to linux, but I HAVE to a vanilla freebsd installation, and found that freenas had backported newer zfs/zpool versions than the comparable freebsd version would have, which was quite annoying. In theory once you just get ZoL installed in ubuntu you should be able to import your pool, start using it. (if you're running a version that can use your pool. If not, it'll simply complain, and you can try to grab newer zfs packages from ubuntu backports repos)

As NextBSD is effectively dead, Jordan has gone off to work on microfluidics and nano-fidget-spinners, and the thread appears to be veering severely off-topic with a random followup, I am locking this thread.
