I just downloaded and installed FreeNAS 2 days ago, and the version installed is "FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201509022158".

It's my guess that a recently downloaded ISO is 9.3.1, but there are no indications of this inside the console or the installation file. The file suggest that it's 9.3, and there is no "1" found anywhere.

I need to know because I'm flashing my motherboard's LSI SAS chip to either P16 driver or P20 drivers. As far as I know, 9.3 can only take P16 driver and 9.3.1 will take P20 drivers.

It looks like 9.3.1 will explicitly have the "1" at the end,
No, that is not correct. Any 9.3 release after 20150824 is considered 9.3.1, so you're on 9.3.1. Poor decision, IMO, to not clearly differentiate the versions when they've made a 9.3.1 release announcement, but I'm not the one(s) maintaining the project.

Oh! Interesting. Yeah this was not explicitly stated anywhere. Neither the console, the BIOS boot screen, nor the file name version. Thanks again!

Recent versions will warn you if the firmware version doesn't match the driver version, so you could just boot it and look for a warning. No need to build a pool as far as I know.
