Where do you typically mount datasets for a plugin to use in its jail?

So I ran into this issue earlier where Transmission was taking ownership (uid and gid) of everything inside of any datasets I shared with it. I realized that it was because I was mounting the datasets inside of Transmission's startup folder, /var/db/transmission, in the jail. That got me wondering if there's a place, conventionally, where you mount datasets that aren't meant to be owned by that plugin. /mnt perhaps? The /media folder is supposed to be used for mounting removable media. Confusing for *nix neophytes. Ultimately, what I want is for the ownership of any files Transmission creates within a given dataset to default to the uid/gid of the owner of that dataset.
