When do I need rawsockets and vnet?

Hi,
I already moved most of my old jails(cp, sabnzbd, Sr, unifi, tautulli,...) to iocage and they work quite well. But in many tutorials I've read I should activate raw sockets and vnet. I didn't in my jails but they work.
The only problem I have is the missing discovery feature in my logitechmediaserver. Could it be possible that raw-sockets and vnet help me with it?

Not really. What i understand is that i need rawsockets to use ping and some other networking tools inside the jail and VLAN for some special network config.
