VMWare snapshots no longer run after updating to FreeNAS 11.1

I just updated to FreeNAS 11.1, and now my snapshots throw the following error "'Current license or ESXi version prohibits execution of the requested operation.". I'm using ESXi 6.5 with a free licence.

I have not made any changes to ESXi, snapshots where mostly working before, any idea why is this happening?

There is another thread regarding this. I think 11.1 uses a different method to initiate the VM snapshot that the free version of ESXi does not support.
