This will be our first TrueNAS build. This will have 3-4 editors on the system right now and more with the next 18-24 months.

This is a used system that is already working.
Server Chassis/ Case: Supermicro SSG-6028R-E1CR16T
Motherboard: Supermicro X10DRH-CT (* Integrated IPMI 2.0 Management)
Processor: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 V4 - 2.6Ghz 14 Core (total 28 Cores)
Memory: 16 DIMM slots 16GB sticks 256GB DDR4 ECC REG. This can be upgraded if suggested (it can support up to 1TB.
Storage Drives: 16x 10GB Seagate Exos X10 Hard Drive
Boot Drive: 2x Intel 320 Series 1.8" Internal Solid State Drive 160GB SSD SATA, SSDSA1NW160G3 (mirrored)
Controller: Onboard SAS3 (12Gbps) via Broadcom 3108 onboard HW RAID 0,1,5,6,10,50,60 (No BBU)
NIC: Integrated Intel X540 Dual Port 10GBase-T
Backplane 1 : BPN-SAS3-826EL1-N4 12-port 2U SAS3 12Gbps single-expander backplane, support up to 8x 3.5-inch SAS3/SATA3 HDD/SSD and 4x NVMe/SAS3/SATA3 storage devices
Backplane 2: BPN-SAS3-829HA-A4 4-port internal SAS3 12Gbps backplane, support up to 4x 3.5-inch SAS3/SATA3 HDD/SSD
PCI-Expansions slots: Low Profile 1 PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot, 6 PCI-E 3.0 x8 slots
HD Caddies: 16x 3.5" Supermicro caddy (With Rear 2x 2.5" for boot drives)
Power: 2x 1000Watt Power Supply PWS-1K02A-1R Titanium
Rail Kit: Supermicro Rev B Rail Kit 2U

I will add the following:
SLOG Drive: 1x Intel SSDPEL1K100GA01 Optane DC P4801X 100GB Solid State Drive
L2ARC Drive: SEAGATE FIRECUDA 530 2TB M.2 NVME SSD
Since the MB does not have M.2 Slots, I will add a M.2 NVME to PCIe 3.0 x4 Adapter with Aluminum Heatsink Solution. Is it best to separate the NVME ssd into separate PCIe lanes or can they be combined onto one card?

Is there anything that I am missing? Thanks for the help.

Will / Have you flashed the RAID Controller to IT Mode? (and any HBA's)
Assuming SMB Shares - SLOG won't help
Try without the L2ARC initially. Only add the L2ARC if you start to need it

What is the planned drive configuration? Can you describe the expected performance relative to the use-case in a bit more detail?
