I have the possibility of acquiring two AData SP900 64GB SSD drives from a source. They are probably a bit used. Would it be okay to use as a boot one of them as a boot device.. Perhaps Mirror them If I have 2, though I've heard that's overkill.

PS. I understand it depends on how to used they are but I'm guessing they are in somewhat decent condition DS

Simple answer, yes you can use them. I would not mirror the SSDs but rather just use one as the boot device and use the second drive for some other project. In my book, keeping it simple is better. Just ensure you retain a backup of your configuration file, something everyone should do, and if you ever have an issue and need to rebuild your boot drive, you can just restore the configuration file and be a happy camper.

I have about 5 old Intel X25-e 32GB units that have been running a pfSense box and two FreeNAS machines without incidence
for about a year. I love the fact that these things get recycled for perfect use with these smaller open source OS.
I say go for it!
