As powerful and practical as htop is, there's one neat trick that TrueNAS Core users can find useful, which isn't enabled by default.

  1. Run htop
  2. Press F2 to enter the the setup
  3. Arrow down to the "Columns" menu
  4. Arrow right to the "Available Columns" pane
  5. Arrow down to select "JAIL" and press F5 to add it
  6. Arrow left to the "Active Columns" pane to select "JAIL" and keep pressing F8 to bring it down until it's directly above "Command"
  7. Press F10 to save and exit
Enjoy!

Now you have an easy overview of which processes are running from particular jails. View them, sort them, have fun.

* Just make sure that the user has a working $HOME directory, so that the changes made to your htop setup remain persistent.
