Hi all, so I had an old freenas machine and I have just put together a new system for running freenas. I didn't want to reinstall freenas so I used the same usb stick that was running freenas on my previous rig. Everything worked well and system booted and I can access all stuff same as I did before. I was wondering what you think about this and if this is reliable enough. I should mention that the hardware of the new machine is entirely different from the previous one.

I know that the correct method is to download the configuration and install a freenas fresh and then upload the configs but I was just wondering so I did a test and surprisingly all works well with the previous installation of freenas on my USB. I appreciate any feedbacks.

This is a perfectly fine way to migrate to new hardware. You might want to consider using something other than that USB drive. They are not very reliable.
