Try a new Flash drive. I just had a system fail, and failed reinstall with USB drive that passed format and disk check in windows. I am back up and running with replacement USB drive.

Question: Is there a convenient way to create a backup of USB flash drive that I can restore to a replacement in the future? My MOBO is funky and I have to disconnect all drives to get a CD boot to work for a clean reinstall.

Thanks.

This has been asked a bunch of times, still the same answer. Just install the same version of FreeNAS on the other key and setup a cron job to copy your config database. Duping a flash drive doesn't work reliably enough and the dupes won't boot sometimes. You can create a FreeNAS flash drive on ANY computer, it doesn't have to be the one you're going to run it on.
