UPS (NUT) Problem : Poll UPS [ups] failed - Driver not connected

Hi guys,

Using FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201511280648

I use a APC BACK-UPS since over a year with the NAS box.

All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, I started receiving emails this morning (every 5 minutes) saying

NOCOMM - ups

In the console it says:

Dec 23 12:57:25 NAS upsmon[2807]: Poll UPS [ups] failed - Driver not connected

I went to look at the UPS and the cable and everything seems normal.

I tried to plug it in my laptop and it would recognize it fine.

The driver I use is: APC ups 2 Back-UPS ES/CyberFort 350 USB (usbhid-ups)
With port: /dev/ugen1.3 (which is the right one too)

Any idea?

Out of the blue? Did you change anything in your server recently?

Yes sir, that's what surprises me the most... NO CHANGE at all!!

Well, NUT has always been a bit fragile with local UPSes, but it's generally something milder.

A few troubleshooting suggestions:

• Try a different USB port
• Try to save the UPS config again

well... I did that and it seems to have worked!

I did both so I guess one of the two or the combination worked.
