I keep getting these errors on my FreeNAS:

Jan 31 04:46:44 fileserver upscode2[2063]: Unknown response to UPDS: 0 MBUUU
Jan 31 04:46:44 fileserver upscode2[2063]: Unknown response to UPDS: 0025.50 MOUL1

Jan 31 04:46:47 fileserver upscode2[2063]: Communications with UPS lost: Empty value from UPS for UPDS 0050.00!
Jan 31 04:46:47 fileserver upsd[2065]: Data for UPS [ups] is stale - check driver
Jan 31 04:46:49 fileserver upsmon[2073]: Poll UPS [ups] failed - Data stale
Jan 31 04:46:49 fileserver upsmon[2073]: Communications with UPS ups lost
Jan 31 04:46:51 fileserver upscode2[2063]: Communications with UPS re-established
Jan 31 04:46:51 fileserver upsd[2065]: UPS [ups] data is no longer stale
Jan 31 04:46:54 fileserver upsmon[2073]: Communications with UPS ups established

There is only a few hours before they repeat, though not always the same values on 'Unknown response to UPDS'. My UPS is an Exide 1000i, which is an rebranded Powerware 9305. It is connected with a serial cable.

I have tested it by pulling the power to the UPS, FreeNAS shuts down as it should.

My first guess is that the model of UPS you chose in the GUI is not 100% compatible with the UPS you have. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you are content with the UPS working as it should I'd just ignore the errors. If you are not content because you have those errors I'd try some other UPS settings in FreeNAS and see if you can quiet the errors.

If you do figure out some settings that do work perfectly it would be appreciate if you could post them back for future visitors to the forum.

Which version of FreeNAS? Which UPS? Which driver are you using?

FreeNAS 8.3.0 release. I select Eaton NetUPS SE in the driver list. After I've pressed OK, and check the settings again, FreeNAS is then running Powerware ups 5 9305 driver.

Everything seems to work, except the errors I keep getting. There's enough of them to fill the log (100k apparantly).
