The short answer is probably not. Both the UPS firmware and the driver are probably not as good as they could be. The offline periods you quote are pretty short. It may be best to power the computer from a separate outlet while keeping the UPS data cable connected and then cut mains power to the UPS, to check that FreeNAS can detect the UPS going on battery and shutdown at the appropriate time.

If you search the forum for "polling" and "UPS" or similar you will find that people have set NUT to poll the UPS less frequently by making changes to FreeNAS files that need redoing after an update. This helps in some cases but not others.

But if the periods when the UPS is offline are limited to a few seconds it may be best to ignore the problem.

Ah, CyperPower UPS. I have one of them, I saw these messages for the longest time. I either had a bad USB port or cable. Replacing it and moving to another port resolved this issue for me. Also, you can modify the polling interval for the NUT service. You'd need to search the forum for this.

I tried it out and it worked as expected, so i may ignore the problem.

Thanks, I'll try changing the USB port.

It looks like it is working, except after a reboot, the service has to be stopped/started again for it to work right.

Did you modify the polling value to get it to work? After a reboot any modifications you make will be erased. I suggest adding it to the post init scripts that get run. This is a setting in the GUI.

I didn't modify polling. If you have some details on how to do that, I'm more than happy to try. I'm away from my setup at the moment, so I can't check the GUI.

Search for ups stale, there are a bunch of posts taking about it. I'm on my phone so providing the link is complicated.

I'm not home at the moment, but my server keeps rebooting. I wonder if this has something to do with it. (had no issues until I hooked up the UPS)

Edit: Turned off the UPS service, I don't think that's the case since it still rebooted
