I am currently running FreeNAS-9.2.1.5-RELEASE-x64 (80c1d35) on a 2GB flash drive with about 2TB of data if it matters.

I'd like to upgrade the USB to an 8 or 16GB, can someone please tell me how this is done?

I'd also like to upgrade the OS to v9.3, how would this fit into the process?

Hi, i think you can save the settings from the web GUI and after you install FreeNAS on a new thumb drive you can import the settings. It does well also upgrading, at least from 9.3 to 9.3.1. Hope it helps.

One comment. It would appear that FreeNAS 10.x would prefer, (or require, I don't know yet), 16GB boot drive(s).
So if you have your choice, go for 16GB now. And if you ever do upgrade to FreeNAS 10.x, (still in Alpha today), then
you should be good for the upgrade.

Thanks for the replies and info. I have two 16GB drives that I will mirror in the end, because they're so cheap now, but for the upgrade I'll try a clean install of 9.3.1 to one 16GB, then import the settings from my current 2GB, v9.2 drive.
