Hello,

I have (finally) upgraded my freenas setup to 11.3 U5 from 11.2 U8. I did this doing a clean install with new media and uploading the old 11.2 config.

I have a number of clean up issues I need some guidance on.

  1. I want to delete a number of datasets and start over with their installation if still needed, in particular two datasets: jails, synchthing - when I try to delete I get "is required" from the UI.
  2. System is alerting: Certificate 'freenas-pre-certui' has expired. This post discusses and appears to be an open issue - should I be concerned by this?
  3. I have been and remain logging onto the UI as 'root', is this considered best practice.
Once I have cleaned up the pool / dataset, intend to re-install wanted plugins, but am trying as best possible to get back to as clean a slate as possible before proceeding as the config dates back to version 8 from memory and I think it is carrying many outdated artifacts of the freenas journey.

Thanks in advance,

PiP

I'll help you on #3: Only "root" can log in to the GUI by design.
