When I go to the 'Update' tab in System there is no GUI screen - it is just blank. As far as I can see everything else appears normal (I've checked pretty much every screen throughout FreeNAS and found no further issues). Everything appears to be working fine, too - no performance issues or errors, just the update screen missing...

Any ideas?

One workaround is to save your config, burn another stick with the latest version, and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't, you still have your old stick...

Do you have your default gateway and nameservers set under the Network tab?

Have FreeNAS boot configured on mirrored SSDs, so would prefer to fix rather than replace if at all possible.

Do you have your default gateway and nameservers set under the Network tab?
Yep, this box has been working fine for about a year, with minor issues (none network related). I just double-checked network configuration and everything is as it should be. It has full Internet access. Even if it didn't (if the Gateway address was incorrect or missing), I should still be able to SEE the Update page - it should just be unable to communicate with the servers.

I tried booting with a previous version from the startup menu, but got a panic error.

I'm wondering if I should do a manual update and see if that fixes things...

Something with the install is bad. You need to reinstall and upload your config file.

So I did an Upgrade install from the FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201604150515 ISO, and have noticed two things. First, the notification that I need to upgrade to 9.10:

WARNING: The 9.3-STABLE Train is now in Maintenance Mode. No new features or non-essential changes will be made. Please switch to the 9.10-STABLE train for active support.

And second, that I still can't see anything in the Update page. Is this by design, because the latest version of 9.3 is also the last, and therefore the Update page has been disabled? Or am I still seeing something unusual here?

$#@%ing Chrome. Just tried IE and what do you know? I can see the update page fine. FFS.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of an obvious but fundamentally sensible solution, SweetAndLow, much appreciated!

Now to figure out WTF is going on with Chrome... :-/

I've seen a few posts recently where the issue turned out to be extensions. No one has been able to say which one was the issue though. If you could try disabling extensions one at a time I would be very grateful :)

Incredibly boring - Google Docs, Google Docs Offline and Tabs Outliner (see attachment).

I've just updated to 9.10 stable, will let you know in a few mins if I'm still seeing the same thing.

Oh and there's a typo in the Upload Configuration warning message, it says passwords will be 'reseted', instead of 'reset'. Again, no idea how to provide such feedback, but maybe one of you do?

Now running latest 9.10 stable train: FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201604181743 (74ef270)
Still seeing the same issue with the Update page on Chrome. To test, I completely shut Chrome down, made sure it was dead using Process Explorer, then opened an Incognito window and tested (no change), then turned off all three extensions, closed Chrome completely again, started with a new Incognito window, browsed to FreeNAS: same issue. Oddly, I *do* see the little 'loading' graphic (see attachment), but then it disappears and the window remains blank.

I too recently upgraded to FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201604181743 and I can confirm that I have the same behavior on the Update page in the WebGUI where I show nothing there. I also no longer am able to list any of my Jails via the WebGUI as well. I am also using Chrome browser, beta channel Version 51.0.2704.22 beta-m (64-bit). Have a few extensions installed:

Adblock 2.56
Application Launcher for Drive (by Google) 3.2
F.B Purity-Clean Up Facebook 14.7.0.14
Flashcontrol 8.0.332
Google Docs 0.9
Google Docs Offline 1.4
Google Sheets 1.1
Google Slides 0.9
Honey 8.4.2
LastPass: Free Password Manager 4.1.7
The Camelizer 2.8.2
The Great Suspender 6.21

I too tried Incognito mode, disabling all the extensions and none of it made any difference in the end result. I did try turning on the developer tools in Chrome and I discovered that when I click on the Update button in the WebGUI I saw zero network traffic from the FreeNAS to my browser, but clicking to another tab yielded network traffic. Clicking back onto the Update tab from another part of the WebGUI showed NO traffic. It's like the button isnt even sending an event?

However, if I login to the WebGUI via MS Edge, I do see the expected UI in the Update page. HOWEVER, the Update page shows:

As an available upgrade, but that is the version that it is supposed to be running!

I've got what sounds like this problem on a new install of 9.10-STABLE. I'm getting this in Firefox -- and Firefox shows a perfectly reasonable update page on my other FreeNAS box, so I don't really think I can implicate Firefox extensions. (Note the FreeNAS version in the browser title bar.)

Here's what I see on the new install:

I did an upgrade install from USB key using FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201604261518.iso (latest stable when I downloaded today), and the problem I was having was resolved.

For the record, my original install was of FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201604111739.iso; sorry for not identifying it precisely originally.
