Hello,

a while back I had an alert on one of my drives being offline, but I didn't have time to fix the issue and tbh I forgot what the exact issue was. Now, no issues are shown directly with my drives. The GUI and console look kinda suspicious. Here my hard- and software infos:

  • TrueNAS-12.0-U6
  • 6x WD Red 8TB in RAIDz2
  • Boot drive is a SSD connected via a SATA-to-USB cable

Console:
Code:
root@truenas[~]# zpool status
  pool: Data
 state: ONLINE
status: Some supported features are not enabled on the pool. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done,
the pool may no longer be accessible by software that does not support
the features. See zpool-features(5) for details.

Selective self-test flags (0x0):
After scanning selected spans, do NOT read-scan remainder of disk.
If Selective self-test is pending on power-up, resume after 0 minute delay.

The issues I'm seeing:

1. In the GUI, ada is shown twice
2. In the console, ada3 is shown as ada3p2 only without the gptid stuff.
3. According to the first picture, there has been some resilvering. I can also find that info on the Pool Status page in the GUI:

pool.JPG

4. What does all that mean now? Is there n issue with one of my drives? Is it failing?

I think the resilvering is due to me taking the two drives offline for smartctl selftest.
No. An offline test doesn't actually take the drive offline from the system, so that can't be the case.

The address of the CRC error impacted block is the first block on the disk, so is saying to me that you probably just bumped the cable or something.

If you don't see any further errors on that disk, it's probably fine.

Yes, that's strange, but I don't see how it's causing any actual problem for now.

2. In the console, ada3 is shown as ada3p2 only without the gptid stuff.
Don't actually need to worry about it, but you can remove and resilver it back if it's bothering you to see it like that.

Keep a close eye on ada3 for a bit (make sure you're running regular short and long SMART tests, but otherwise I would treat it as an incident that's now over.
