Well it seems like maybe u3 was working better for me. U4 goes back rebooting... and then hangs during boot. I tried deleting u4 and going back to u2, and installing u4 from u2 in stead of u3 and it didn't help. It's weird because u3 seemed to help.

I just started having this same problem. Been running 11.1 release for a few months and have a few iocage jails and a few warden jails that weren't really used. I started using the iocage jails (radarr and sonarr) and the warden jails (transmission and nzbget) a few days back and am seeing the reboots and the emails "Unauthorized system reboot". I checked /var/log/messages and the everything is normal up until the reboot, no panics, no errors, etc.

Looks like I'm in the same boat as @hoserama and @Scharbag. I'm going to put DL limits in the jails and see if that helps the problem.

I ended up switching to 11.1-U4 and saw a transmission plugin update available. After all this, I am no longer experiencing the issue.

which version transmission are you running? I manually installed it and am on 2.93.

2.93 installed via a plugin update.

I'm also experiencing unauthorized reboots 1-2 times a day. Nothing interesting in logs at all, sometimes hours of no messages prior to reboots. I have Transmission running via the plugin, but disabling that did not prevent further reboots.

It's running on PC hardware that, until a few days ago when I turned it into a NAS box, has been used as a primary PC workstation for a very long time with no issues at all.

Well I've tried u3 and u4, and neither has made anything better. It's so weird It used to run like a champ. I've begun to lose hope.

so i've been struggling with this issue for a couple of months however i'm now over 11 days uptime.

Whats changed ?? i migrated to a Mac about 11 days ago from a Surface Book, there are now no windows machines on the network utilising mapped drives. Funny thing is that i had SMB disabled on the 11.1U4 machine and only doing SMB mapped drive backup drive to another coral machine (still haven't migrated it due to this issue).

Thoughts..... ??? maybe those that are able to get this to happen all the time isolate the machine from the network ??

Hello,

so in my case it is directly connected to scrubs! :-(

I installed 11.1 U4 on the 26th of march.
System was running fine so far.....had disabled the scheduled scrubs of all volumes with U3 as I realized they were causing the reboots....

now I thought I might give it another try....

I have three volumes:
1 and 2 finish the scrub just fine.
3 is leaving the system almost unaccessable....until the system turns itself off.
But I get not any one message saying "unauthorized reboot" or something...so I guess this is an improvement compared to U3 !?

Hope the bug causing this behaviour is found soon!

For now, I can only switch on my system everytime it shuts off and hope the scrubs will finish soon.....

Cheers

Guess I have to jump in here as well. I am running into the exact issue. I am getting the email saying the server is rebooting, but thankfully the system is not actually rebooting as checked by uptime and the times in the logs.

I am currently running 11.1-STABLE.

Some notes of interest for my system:

111 days ago I shut the system down to install a new, larger UPS. Since then, it has been up for those 111 days without issue. The very first time I received the "Unauthorized System Reboot" message was April 11th. I checked into then, saw that the system had not really rebooted, everything was online and pools were all good, so I didn't think anything about it. I received the second message last night and jumped on the forums this morning.

Like a lot of people, this is what the log says:

Code:
May 3 21:50:07 phxnas kernel: pid 43354 (python3.6), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

As I said, in my case my system does not actually reboot and I have only received the message twice. No scrubs at the time and no jails on the system.

My system specs for this particular system are:

HP Z820
Dual Xeon E5-2640 2.5Ghz Processors
64GB ECC DDR3 Memory
LSI SAS3008 (Flashed to IT Mode)
Dell MD1200 w/ 12 * HGST Ultrastar He8 8TB HDDs
APC3000 UPS
Single Z3 Pool

Are you sure they're not just old logs? There was a bug where year-old messages would be shown again because the year wasn't logged and I'm not sure that was fixed.

The logs are current as is the email that was sent to me last night. The date and time on the server are correct and match the logs. Also, the server has only been in operation a total of 151 days since I built it, so there would have been no logs from May 3rd of last year.

I kinda lost track of this, has anybody filed a bug report for this, yet?

Reading the thread, it appears that there was a bug report filed, I guess my issue is that my machine is NOT actually rebooting like the others are doing, just throwing out the error and sending the email.

Hello,

with U4 I could "create" reboots just by starting a scrub. So, since I was not scrubbing the system anymore. I did not have any reboots.

A week ago I updated to U5 and yesterday the system rebooted for the first time....
