Hi everyone, I´m sorry if you´ve seen a thread like this a hundred times, but I´ve been reading each and every thread on it and followed countless steps, after hours and hours I still can´t get syncthing to work.

Here´s my setup:
  • I have a 2 TB NVME drive (Stripe), that has the dataset "Applications"

  • And multiple HDDs in RaidZ2 with the dataset "BIGDATA"
    • BigData has an SMB share so I can access it via Windows (and an NFS share that was created following the suggestions on this forum)
  • All apps are installed on the Applications dataset
  • On BigData, there are folders for pictures, videos etc.
  • BigData has users for basically everything, and they have Full Control enabled

  • All I want is that the photo folder on my Windows machine is syncing with the photo folder on BigData
Another piece of info - I´m running this on a new install, new server I just built and set up, and I´m new to TrueNAS Scale (having had only little experience with Linux until now).

I´ve installed the Truecharts version and made the following configuration:

"BILDER" is a folder I created on BigData.

3001 is the syncthing user I posted above.

"Enable Host Path Safety Checks" is OFF.

Everything else is on default values.

I setup the sync process on my Windows machine, sharing this one folder with my TrueNAS server. It´s trying to sync, but the photos do not get transferred:

(sorry for German :)).

When I look into the folder BILDER on BigData, there is a 0 KB TMP-file for each photo. But no photo.

So it seems that syncthing actually has write permission on BigData, it´s just not writing the correct photos. I haven´t seen this behaviour on any other thread.

So please, help me out here before I pull all my hair out...

Additional info - when I look through the syncthing logs, I get the error message for every single picture it´s trying to sync: operation not permitted.

2023-09-09 23:06:57.193812+00:00[EKB7N] 2023/09/09 23:06:57 INFO: Puller (folder "BILDER" (zztux-hhn7j), item "Christian.BMP"): syncing: finishing: setting perms on temp file: chmod /BIGDATA/BILDER/.syncthing.Christian.BMP.tmp: operation not permitted

But my user has every permission set there is in the ACL. Why is it not permitted?
