Hello

I managed to install Truenas on the Sandisk USB key, but after a few times I received this error message:

1605747848035.png

My hardware :
CPU : i7 930 socket 1366
Motherboard : Asus p6x58d-e
Memory : 14gig
USB key : SanDisk SDCZ430-128G

My NAS is not responding on usb key...
I tried 2-3 times and it's always the same result on the USB key.

I installed Truenas on a Kingston 256 gig SSD hard drive (sata) and everything works and remains stable.

I check the BIOS option and found nothing.

Thx for your help

Welcome to the forums!

USB's are known to have short life as boot drives for FreeNAS/TrueNAS which is why they are no longer recommended. You found the solution with your SSD boot drive. A search here will confirm...

Yes, but the idea of putting the OS on a USB key is to use the 6 ports SATA for storage disks
:(

Understood, but if your USB key doesn't work then you need to consider the alternative. If you search here you will find this issue discussed and debated ad-nauseam. Your solution is to get an HBA and free up mainboard sata port(s).

BTW - USB2 keys have a better history than USB3 - try a USB2 port if you have one. YMMV.

I looked at your motherboard spec. The Realtek NIC is your next likely hurdle. Good luck.

I change the onboard nic for the new one
2 ports gig : 82576-2T-X1(E1G42ET)(Intel-1pc) (CA)

I test the smb speed after ... its seem more fast ... maybe 10mbits more

An HBA is an option, but so is using an inexpensive USB-to-SATA converter and a conventional HDD/SSD.
