12.0-U2 is now out and available for updating! Please take a look at the release notes for more details on changes and fixes. As always thanks for the feedback in advance!

on the releasenotes page there are some broken links "FreeBSD 12.2 has been addressed (NAS-107593). " and "l ACoW will be reactivated in TrueNAS 12.0-U3 (NAS-108627) "

My upgrade from 12.0-U1 went smoothly and reporting graphs are now visible. What's with the big message about not running in a PRODUCTION environment though? Is this aimed at TrueNAS Enterprise customers?

I updated without problems, but after restart I got this alert: System core files were found in /var/db/system/cores. Please create a ticket at https://jira.ixsystems.com/ and remove these files.

Same as user o0o, my update to U2 went well but I now have the same alert:
WARNING
System core files were found in /var/db/system/cores. Please create a ticket at https://jira.ixsystems.com/ and remove these files.

We'll need guidance from an expert about how to handle this error.

I meanwhile opened a ticket. And as it seems, I am not the only one.

You can look at the contents of /var/db/system/cores by running the following command from shell:
ls -l /var/db/system/cores

Some cores may be quite old from previous releases. These cores can be removed by running the command
rm /var/db/system/cores/<file>

If you see an smbd.core in there it's nothing to worry about and can be safely removed. There will be quite a few people with one because of a bug present in U1 and fixed in U2.
rm /var/db/system/cores/smbd.core

If you see cores that (1) aren't ancient and (2) aren't smbd.core, syslog-ng.core, or winbindd.core, you can tar them up and attach to a bug ticket
tar -cvzf /tmp/cores.tgz /var/db/system/cores (then use scp/sftp to copy it off). Since a core file may contain sensitive info, be sure to mark the upload as private.

Known issue, due to the merging of FreeNAS + TrueNAS into one. We will be enabling the enterprise infrastructure in the next couple weeks, at which point this message will go away.

No issues either. This could be the beginning of a very long and very boring thread…

We developers love boring. When the ops team hasn't called me for support in half a month, I call that a good sign. The equivalent here is a 5-page thread of "works fine" and "so, when's the next major version coming?".

I don't know why, but so far each time I have upgraded 12 (from 11 -> 12, then 12 -> 12-U1, and now from 12-U1 -> 12-U2), my Samba users passwords are seemingly reset. That is, in order to get authenticated Samba shares to work after an upgrade, I have to go into Accounts -> Users and set their password again or they are unable to login.
