transmission world writable/ directory missing

Everything was working fine, then i did a reboot and transmission would not start. so i turned on the monitor and noticed a bunch of transmission related errors stating certain files in the "ect" directory were world writable. so i did a little digging on here and found some post about changing the permissions.
I went looking for the files and the entire "ect" directory is gone. I installed the transmission plug-in again but it made a second copy, i was hoping it would over write.
I tried coping the act folder from transmission_2 to transmission_1 but received and error stating i didn't have permission to perform this action.

Transmission did start but will not download any thing not and when the system boots there are a bunch of errors listed now for all the torrents .

any help would be appreciated as i am new to FreeNAS

is there anything you need to save from your original copy of transmission? if not I suggest installing a new instance of transmission and using that.

also the plugin doesn't use the etc folder, I have it set to use /var/db/transmission for it's settings/torrents

ok, i did this but lost all the torrents. but it is working now.

However the Plex plugin won't start now.

I'm not having a good time here.

if you still have access to your previous /var/db/transmission/torrents folder, they are saved in there.

what is the output when you run 'service plexmediaserver onestart' in your plex jail?

sorry, i was impatient and deleted that one too and re installed and all is working now... hopefully it stays that way.
its been a long day

The reason it broke was because you changed the permissions of your jail dataset. You can't do this because it breaks all your jails.

I am aware of this and I don't recall ever changing the permission on the jails, just the storage
