I am currently using transmission for all the torrent needs, but it is REALLY slow. I was wondering if I could use another torrent downloader?

Can you post more details on your setup and how everything is networked?

How did you determine that it is a problem with transmission? Are you using a VPN service?

Tons of people on here use transmission with no problems.

Well, I am using transmission with sickrage/couchpotato. Sickrage sends the info to download a tvshow to transmission, which then downloads the file and sickrage post processes it. Right now transmission is SUPER SLOW, it downloads at 100-500 kbps, it is not even really old files or anything that i am trying to download, its latest tv shows and stuff. sometimes it actually DOESNT download anything for a good while, then it starts..NO VPN.

So has transmission always been slow or did it just recently become so?

it fluctuates, sometimes it is flying, sometimes it is 100-400kbps, sometimes it stops and resumes. sometimes torrents go IDLE.

And other traffic on your network is normal at the same time as these fluctuations occur? I would rule out a problem with your ISP either with the bandwidth and/or port blocking.

I would try downloading a torrent that is fluctuating on your computer with the regular transmission client and see if speeds remain consistently high and don't fluctuate like in freenas.

Speed problems with torrents could be any number of things, which is more likely then a problem with your setup. If transmission at times is fast and on is properly within freenas, I doubt that is your problem.
