TRANSFER SPEED TO FREENAS SERVER

Hi Guys so far so good build system and setting up. now comes problem first main problem i have is transfer speed from my pc to freenas server its only 12mb . please advice what am i doing wrong. and once again i could not have done all this without you great guys out there. help me build this machine.

Sounds like you have a 100mbit switch or nic somewhere

^^^ That. 12MB/sec means 100Mb connection. Could be a bad wire, bad NIC, or bad switch. Unfortunately you'll have to figure out which one it is on your own. :/

Many lightning protectors only supports four wires so they are 100Mb only.
Scratches my head a little when upgrading to Gb for my moms computer as I had LAN going through an APC UPS.

thanks guys for your support, i have got virgin media modem and then i use my apple time capsule machine to use as wireless and wired network any thoughts

i have checked my pc is showing under window task manager (networking) local area connection 2 showing (1gbps). but how do i check the connection to my freenas server any thoughts please

Pretty much any ethernet equipment have LEDs that indicate link speed.
So check those every step of the way.

Typing ifconfig into shell will tell you the link speed.

That's not all of it, try ifconfig|more to get the first half. And use code tags when pasting.

hi guys thanks very much for all the help and advice on transfer speed. i think the problem was i plug the rj45 cable back of airport express rather then in my 8 port switch. once i plugged the cable in the 8 port switch and i got between 45 to 70mb speed. thank god and you guys too.
