TN keeps rebooting, crashing. Remote to me

A system that's been running for at least a year is suddenly broken. It's rebooting over and over and once everything is up, it just seems to crash and reboot again. It gets to the console screen then reboots.

There doesn't seem to be much I can do and I'm remote to the system so thought I'd post asking if anyone can notice anything in this screen cap that might allow me to recover this from remote.

Oddly, after about 15 reboots, it finally went back online.
There are no errors, the pool shows in good condition.
I started a shell from the GUI and it won't close. Was going to check the logs for anything useful so guess I'll ssh in next.

I see a system update but quite nervous to do anything right now.

I wrote too soon, it rebooted again.

Also odd, to me, is that none of the words above from my screen cap can be found in the console log.

Since the last reboot, now it's all fine again. I'm nervous about upgrading to 13 from 12. Was there a problem in 12 that could have caused this and maybe explains all the reboots, or even an emergency update that auto ran?

Have you tried swapping out the boot disk and reinstalling the same TN version and restoring your current config file? Might be a bad boot disk.

The server is remote to me so I have no access.
It seemed to boot, then would stay up for a minute or two at times then reboot again. I'm not sure it's the boot that's the problem because of that.

In my experience, things like kernel panics/restarts usually point to either a boot device problem or hardware stability issue and the boot disk/OS reinstall is usually the easiest one to replace out of the two.

Ok but is it 100% clear that this is the problem? It's a huge issue if I have to re-install from remote.
Also related to the other post, needing a secondary device at the location to take over while I might have to rebuild this.

That said, I feel like TrueNAS is way studier than this and what ever happened doesn't require a reboot but some other maintenance. As I mentioned, I've also not done the update yet.

Issues like this can show up when a boot device is failing, or perhaps a power supply is beginning to go bad.

Depending upon the environment, it is also possible that a cable has come loose or that dirt buildup is causing something to overheat. It is very frustrating when intermittent fails occur on a remote machine. Sometimes, there is little you can do without looking at it.

At the end of the day, I doubt it is something with TruNAS itself. That said, I would not update TruNAS until you track down the cause of the problem. Good luck.
