Hey Guys,

I would like to install the freeBSD Teamspeak 3 Server on my freenas. But I knida lost on how to do this. I already looked through the documentation but since I don't have any experience with freeBSD it is hard for me ti understand all the steps I've to go through.

It would be really cool if somecould guide me through the process ... :)

Hm ... there's one port listed on freshports: http://www.freshports.org/audio/teamspeak3-server/

The Version's a bit older but I'll go with that. I tried to follow the steps (like mentioned before) that are given in the documentation. So first thing: I entered the "portsnap fetch && portsnap extract" commands into the shell on the freenas-GUI. All that's giving me back is a: command not found.

I'm kinda lost here. Anyone?

You'll want to read the section on Installing non-PBI Software more carefully. It indicates that all of the commands in that section need to be run from within the Plugins Jail.

The documentation is still being written, and creating a plugin is not so simple as following a recipe. The docs assume you're building the plugin inside the jail, the problem is there are issues with the jail and you can't build them there (yet). You need to setup a FreeBSD system and do it there. At this point you're better off looking for a package and just doing pkg_add -r package-name from inside the jail. It'll save you a lot of time and frustration.

Just a quick clarification on the documentation: the section on Plugins is fully up-to-date EXCEPT for section 5.2 Create and Test the PBI. That one is very much a work in progress and changes still need to be made to the plugins jail to support the actual building of the PBI.

Okay ... I kinda wrapped my head around it a little bit. But I realised that I can't reach into the internet from inside the jail. The portsnap fetch extract command just gives me an error stating, that it can't find any mirrors. I tried to ping www.google.com from inside the jail - doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Does the network that matches the IP address of the Plugins Jail have a default gateway set?

Jep. It's a pretty standard network-setup. My router is configured as IPv4 Gateway ... ping www.google.com just from the freenas-shell works fine.

EDIT: Hm .. restarted the plugins-service and changed the Jail-IP. Now it seems to work. Weird ... cause I'm 100% that there wasn't sth. like an IP-Conflict ... whatever.

EDIT-2: Okay - managed to install the teamspeak3-server-port I mentioned above (3.0.5.1). The service starts (onestart) and I can connect to the teamspeak-server with the client. So now I would like to configure it so the service starts automatically. But I somehow can't set the parameter teamspeal_enable="YES" ... it just gives me command not found ... I guess I'm missing sth :)

Ah ... and can I somehow scroll up in the GUI-Shell-Window?

Thanks for the time :D

You want to add that parameter to /etc/rc.conf within the Jail using a utility such as the vi editor.
