I am having an issue that requires me to reboot every month or so. From what I have gathered it's related to the USB boot drive I am using.

What would be the easiest way for me to switch to a new boot drive? Should I set up mirroring of the boot drive to another one, then swap out the suspect one to a new one?

Personally, I'd save the config, do a fresh install on the new stick, boot from it, and restore the config.

Thanks for the input. I have never exported/imported a config before. Will FreeNAS know where my volumes are?

Yes, as that is part of the metadata on the storage disks (which is separate from the boot device and the config).
