I'm pretty sure I can't do what I'm about to ask, but I'm going to ask anyway :)

I've got a Supermicro X9DAi, which is a workstation board, so no IPMI. Is there any way to monitor the chipset temperature and/or control the fans?
All the solutions I've seen is depending on the IPMI that I don't have.

That only works on system boards that have the special slot that it connects to and hardware built into the board. It can't work with just any board, especially since it takes a special slot.

Yeah, I've given up on the IPMI, since there's no solution from Supermicro for this, but I was hoping there was some way to do it through the OS.

Sorry to bump and old thread but I have the same board and was having the same issue with IPMI. Without IPMI the states won't show up in the web based SuperMicro SuperDoctor 5 software tool. If you download the entire Disc ISO though and install the older SuperMicro SuperDoctor III version (its an ugly JAVA app) it will allow you to view the FAN speeds and voltages from within Windows.
