Hi,
I've picked up an X10SLL-F on eBay for my build, and I had planned to buy a Xeon 1220 v3 second hand to go in it. However I've seen some discussion about certain bios versions being incompatible so I wanted to check if the chip would work before I bought one. I've been told that the motherboard I've bought previously had a Xeon 1250 v5 in it and it worked - if that's the case, should the 1220 v3 also work fine?

Thanks!

You'll need Magical BIOS version 1337, which you can download at nope.avi.

In other words, there is zero percent chance that you will get any Xeon E3 v5 processor to work in a Supermicro X10SL* board. LGA1150 boards support Xeon E3 v3 and v4.

Ah, I think they must have told me the wrong processor. But if they were successfully using a compatible Xeon should any Xeon work?

Any supported Xeon V3 will work for sure, V4 might require a bios update if still using older bios.
