Hi forum,

I am looking for an efficient and above all energy-saving system.

I only use it as storage for music and backups.
The most "expensive" will be Plex.

It should be from Supermicro and I think embedded system will be enough.
Does anyone have experience with such setups?

Or rather, what would you recommend as a minimum?
(Not counting the minimum system requirements).

Low power champions are Atom C3000 and Xeon D-1500. These would be the Supermicro A2SDi and X10SDV series, but I would not limit myself to Supermicro: If you can find equivalent boards from Gigabyte or AsRockRack these will work just as fine.

Now you have to define your requirements in number of drives and whether you want transcoding on the NAS, as these might require an extra HBA, an extra GPU or switching to Xeon E-2000 (ECC-enabled Core i3).

Hi Etorix,

thank you for your reply and sorry for the delay.

I think I can already do a lot with your answer.

The streams either run via a TV or the PC.
So I can do without transcoding on the NAS.

Two HDDs will come in. So it's also manageable.

And yes, Supermicro is not a must now.
