I have some old Intel, now Solidigm, D3-S4510 SSDs that are in need of a firmware update; there's no data on them atm, I bought them used. I ran a long SMART test and they look healthy with high 90% write endurance left, but I'd like to update them.
I'm curious what others do for SSD maintenance tools. Solidigm does have a CLI storage tool (here) for Linux.
1) They're in hot swap bay so I could pull them out and run the tool on a workstation, but then I have to open that up (no hot swap).
2) Create a VM and pass them through, but not thrilled about virtualizing a firmware tool.
3) I'm wondering if it's safe to install this on the TrueNAS base install? That would allow for easy GUI shell access.
