I'm getting "* smartd is not running" alerts every morning starting around 3am. After a few minutes, I will get another email alert that this is cleared. 5-10minute later, smartd is not running alert comes back and then off again. This cycle will repeat constantly until I reboot the FreeNAS in which it will begin again at 3am. The only task I have going nightly at 3am is snapshots of my 1.3TB data. Everything seems to run fine otherwise other than sluggish GUI. The system is an old Dell Optiplex 980 with an i7 870, 16GB ram, Intel NIC, Boot is installed on a USB, jail on an SSD, and storage on two spinners.
