Hi All,
Its time to upgrade my FN memory but i'm a bit confused as the information from SM is not clear. on SM MB page it say that my MB supports up to 1TB LRDIMM and 512GB RDIMM however when downloading the manual its half of the specs compare to the website, up to 512TB LRDIMM and 256GB RDIMM. is that to do with the MB version, if so what is the specs i should follow? my model is REV:1.01B.
I have ESXi/FreeNAS AIO system (see below specs in my signature) that i use to run VMs that require lot of memory. i would like to buy now the right memory of size so i wont be limited in the future if i like to upgrade. At the moment i have 2 x 16GB Crucial/Micron CT16G4RFD424A RDIMM modules. at this point i would like to go upto 128GB or 256GB if possible but maybe have the option 1TB in the future. what will be the best way to go LRDIMM or RDIMM? what size should i choose? can i use my current modules and mix with the new size?
Our IT Supplier has the following Crucial/Micron on stock:
DDR4 ECC RDIMM - SERVER
CT16G4RFD4266 - CRUCIAL 16GB DDR4 ECC REG MEMORY, PC4-21300, 2666MHz, DRx4, 835955-B21, LIFE WTY
CT32G4RFD4266 - CRUCIAL 32GB DDR4 ECC REG MEMORY, PC4-21300, 2666MHz, DRx4, 815100-B21, LIFE WTY
CT64G4YFQ426S - CRUCIAL 64GB DDR4 ECC REG MEMORY, PC4-21300, 2666MHz, QRx4, 288PIN, LIFE WTY
CT128G4YFE426S - CRUCIAL 128GB DDR4 ECC REG MEMORY, PC4-21300, 2666MHz, QRx4, 288PIN, LIFE WTY
Last question that is related to the above, in the IPMI hardware section my module are 2400MHz but the operating speed is 2133MHz, is that something i need to consider as well and can i maximise the speed to 2400MHz?
Thank you
