Hi all. Just got this in an email from my server...

Code:
Server.local kernel log messages:
Limiting open port RST response from 228 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 251 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 261 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 294 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 285 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 205 to 200 packets/sec
Limiting open port RST response from 205 to 200 packets/sec
-- End of security output --

Should I be concerned?
From what I can see online it seems to suggest people are trying to get access? Could it be related to Transmission at all? I don't host anything to the internet on my server, it's just a media, backup and download box.

Cheers,
Chris

I get the same email when I'm downloading torrents from my deluge jail. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Is the FreeNAS system protected by a firewall? Those messages usually indicate that it is not or that the SSH port is open through the firewall.

I have seen this when using transmission. Probably not a big deal.

Honestly, I have no idea if it's protected by a firewall
If it's software then I haven't set it up. No idea if my router does anything.

I've had this server set up for years now (with transmission) and this is the first time I've gotten this message.
A day prior (?) to receiving the message I did connect via SSH using an app on my phone that I haven't used before. Maybe it's related to that?

Did you forward port 22 to your freenas?

If you don't know how a firewall works on your network/router, you have bigger issues here.

Thanks for the reply.

No that port is not forwarded. Only some jail ports are forwarded, Teamspeak and a game server.
