Hi,

has anyone heard/used SexiGraf (http://www.sexigraf.fr/) before?
It seems to be a community driven Graphite Server - been looking for one of those ever since I saw the graphite URL field in 9.10;)
They even have a FreeNas "SexiPanel" :)
Added bonus is that they directly have vmWare too.

I am giving it a whirl, just wanted to hear whether it was known/used or what alternatives most ppl used here (not that its complicated to set up Ubuntu and install Graphite)

So its easy enough to deploy and use, 10 mins work. Not sure whether its really needed for FreeNas, will have to compare a bit more when I got time, but definitely nice for ESX:)

From what I can see on their site, the deployment instructions are very ESXI-centered. Could it be deployed in a different host environment like Proxmox?

If you can deploy an ova then it might work - if you cant then probably not so easy:)

Well, Proxmox doesn't directly have the ability to import an .ova appliance, but there are ways of making it happen. I'll have to play around with it a bit--it looks nice, at least.

Well that doesn't sound too complicated. I assume there are no issues with VMWare tools installed on Promoxx vm?

I finally found some spare time to play with this. It's really easy to deploy on FreeNas/Virtualbox jail, you just have to import the .ova and point FreeNas to the IP (Remote Graphite Server in System/Advanced)
Sexy graphs in less then 10 minutes ;) Thanks for posting this.

So I need to run ESXI to be able to use sexigraf for FreeNAS?, It's been about confusing to me to be honest. ;)

Not at all, see post #9 : FreeNas has virtualbox jails that can import the sexigraf ova file.

That's what confused me about it, since all the documentation (such as it is) is focusing on ESXi. But no, you don't have to use ESXi. You can import the .ova file directly into VirtualBox and run it there, or you can follow the instructions I linked to above and run it under Proxmox. It seems that most of the panels deal with ESXi, but not all of them.

Ok, then that's taken care of. But what if I have a remote server somewhere running Ubuntu server, would that work?

What connection do you perceive between the remote Ubuntu server and the SexiGraf appliance?

1gigabit ;)

But I was thinking of i just could run sexigraf on the remote server and then somehow make FreeNAS report to it. But I guess it ain't that simple.

As far as I can see (which isn't very far at this point), SexiGraf is designed to be installed as an appliance (kind of like FreeNAS)--install it to its own (virtual) machine and let it run. Whether you run that VM under ESXi, under VirtualBox on your FreeNAS box, under VirtualBox on some other machine, or under a completely different hypervisor, doesn't really matter. So there isn't a way (that I know) to install it in your Ubuntu server as such, but you could install VirtualBox on your Ubuntu server, and run it from there. And making FreeNAS report to it is simply a matter of entering its IP address in the "Remote Graphite Server Hostname" field in the Advanced configuration screen in FreeNAS 9.10.

Hmm, I do have another server running Linux mint that I guess I could install it on through virtualbox. So I only install sexigraf inside virtualbox?
