Set up a share for windows 8's "File History" utility?

Hello. I created a CIFS share called "Windows Backup" and allocated it a drive letter in Windows. However, when i try selecting the network location in the "File History" utility/page, it says...
"We cant add your network location. This location cant be used to save your files. Try a different location"

Does anyone have any experience with this or can suggest any potential reasons why i am unable to select my share?

Do you have the Home Premium version? If so, it doesn't allow you to backup to a network share. You need the Pro version or higher.

If you have a 2nd drive in your pc, you could backup to it, and copy the backup to the share.

Hello. Thank's for the reply.

I have Windows 8 Pro x64.

I don't want to have to backup to a disk and manually move it over each and every time. I'm looking for a windows alternative to time machine.
