Randomly found out that my Dell Optiplex 3050 support ECC, should i use it for a 4 drives Nas?

However today i realized that my Dell Optiplex 3050 does support ecc and have a decent cpu as well, i3-7100T.

The only issue is that afaik there's no SATA ports on the mb. There's an NVME slot tho.

Out of curiosity: How did you determine the support for ECC?

Well, the fact that the CPU supports ECC does not mean that this system does. The board must do that as well and I would be hard-pressed to think that an Optiplex does that. You should operate under the assumption that your system does not support ECC.

Most likely, the chipset is Q270. You'd need C232 or C236 for ECC support.
As for attaching drives, you'd need to pass some PCIe lanes to a SAS HBA in an external enclosure.

Better use another PC as a NAS. One which actually has SATA ports and bays to put drives into.
