I am thinking about creating a home server with 100TB of total space.
I wanted to use Raid 6 but wanted to know if Raidz2 in ZFS would be faster than RAID 6 for read and write performance.

your speed depends on your hdd quantity and how you configure your pool.

what are you using the server for?

this will allow people to help you with your specific needs

We are going to be using this server in our non-profit organization that produces 3d animations for the public. We have a group of around 15 volunteers all of which will be working off another faster server. This 100tb server is going to be holding all the data as a 2nd copy from the main server and hosting other bulk files and final render files. And the final render files will be used by 2 users to edit them in an NLE.

So this 100tb will be used for backup data storage and also editing some of the final render files. So it needs some good read and write performance.

Around 500MBps is the minimum speed we need read and write. The more the better if possible.
